Our flagship Syrah from the same home vineyard at 393m above sea level as our Elevation 393 blend. It is usually a selection of the best barrels from the steepest terraced section of our vineyard that we use for this wine.

This specific site lies behind the mountain in spring and winter and is much more exposed mid summer. This means cooler, wetter weather during the growing season and a much warmer drier ripening period. This together with the clay rich, but steep well drained granite based soils, produces a unique powerful wine with high alcohol and yet retains elegance and long, complex flavours that take time to unfold in the glass.

Expect intense blueberry fruit, pepper spice and mineral complexity. Best between 5 & 12 years.

We are extremely proud of our track record in the ‘Wine Spectator’ magazine scoring consistently high scores. The 2011 vintage scored a record 96, still the highest score for any SA red.

The wine was renamed "Syrah 393" from 2009, previously labeled as "De Trafford Shiraz".
