CWG Auction 2017

CAPE WINEMAKERS GUILD AUCTION 30 SEPTEMBER 2017

We only produce our De Trafford CWG Perspective specifically for the Auction in the best years and if we're really happy with the wine. This year we have the Perspective 2015 on the auction after leaving out the 2013 and 2014 vintages. I felt the 2014 didn't have sufficient concentration for an Auction wine and 2013 we had a lot of wind damage and did a 100% Cabernet Sauvignon for the auction instead.

Usually the Perspective is a three way blend of Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, but in 2015 I felt the Merlot was a lot better than the Cabernet Franc, so it's a 67% Merlot, 33% Cabernet Sauvignon blend. We'll be showing the wine at the CWG events in Johannes burg this week as well as the final pre-Auction tasting the evening before the Auction. Book for tastings and Auction registration here.

We'll be showing our Perspective at our tasting room the last two Saturdays before the Auction. We'll also have the original silk scarf by Rita Trafford for our Chenin Blanc 2016 label on the CWG silent auction on the same day as the main Auction. All proceeds go to the CWG Trust, which assists in developing winemakers and viticulturists from underprivileged communities.
